Now that the suspension of playing has been put on a brief hold, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally given its nod to the updated schedule and venues for the rest matches — and Reddy Anna brings you all the details you need to know!
📣 Why Was IPL 2025 Suspended?
The suspension is a result of increasing geopolitical tensions and fears for security during the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals played at the HPCA stadium, Dharamshala. The match was suspended in the middles of the innings and the entire tournament was suspended. After deep consultations with the authority in government and security, the BCCI has now made up their minds to resuscitate the tournament safely.

17 matches of the remainder of IPL 2025 are to be played. These matches will be played in six of India’s largest cities.

🎯 IPL 2025 Final: Date & Possible Venue Change
The final was first scheduled for May 25 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Nevertheless, with rain forecasts around that period in Kolkata (which the final match is to be played in) the tournament closing match venue might be relocated to guarantee a smooth continuation of the tournament to the finals. The BCCI is watching the weather carefully and will make amendments if required.
“The final venue can be changed since it can rain and affect the games in kolkata” said a BCCI official. Weather forecasts will be used to make the decision”.
